The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are excited to announce the appointment of Steven Hales as the club’s Under 20s Coach for the 2015 season.

Hales has spent the past three seasons as Eels Under 20s Assistant Coach after being an assistant with North Sydney’s NSW Cup side, and also coaches at Westfield Sports High School.

“I’ve been around the club for a few years, and it’s an exciting time and definitely moving forward,” Hales said.

“Our Under 20s side is a talented group of boys to coach and I’m looking forward to taking on this opportunity.”

Hales will also work with the NRL coaching staff as much as time permits, to ensure consistency and high standards in the coaching between the grades.

“It’s great to work with someone like Brad Arthur, I’m lucky and also the boy are lucky to have him as NRL Head Coach,” Hales said.

“To be able to bring things back from the NRL side to our Under 20s side will be invaluable for their development.”

Eels NRL Head Coach Brad Arthur says Hales moving into the NYC Coach position was a simple decision.

“Steven has been part of our system for a long time and knows the local juniors and talent in the Parramatta district really well,” Head Coach Brad Arthur said.

“He’s got a great work ethic and spent a lot of time working with the boys the last few years, and I’m confident he will do a good job with our Under 20s.”

“Steven’s been an important part of our Under 20s coaching team here at the Eels for a number of years, and his development has seen him earn this new opportunity,” Eels CEO Scott Seward said.

“I wish him all the success with our Holden Cup side in 2015.”
