The Dyldam Parramatta Eels welcomed Erin Brockovich to their training session this morning thanks to Eels commercial partner Shine Lawyers as the Blue and Gold were treated with her presence as the legal researcher, made famous from the self-titled film, mingled with players and learnt about rugby league.

Brockovich is a proud ambassador of the Parramatta Eels commercial partner and has been working with the law firm since 2007. She is renowned for her courageous work as an environmental crusader, advocate for the people and champion of truth.

“I think it is great, I am actually excited by it” said Brockovich after meeting the Eels.

“It is very different to American football and the idea that they play without pads and gear was a little bit shocking!”

And whilst Brockovich is a keen sports fan, she was particularly interested in the the rules of rugby league as Eels forwards Tim Mannah and Anthony Watmough took some time to teach her some football skills.

“How you throw the ball is definitely different. There is just no way I could do the spin on that ball.”

“I’m a ball player and I like sports and I can throw a football but I couldn’t figure out how you guys spin that thing!”

Brockovich has begun her trip in Australia in Sydney but has a jam-packed schedule as she travels to various locations from 1-18 February as part of her work with Shine Lawyers.

After Brockovich’s visit to Sydney, she will be visiting Brisbane, Toowoomba, Oakey, Cairns and Townsville presenting on a number of topics close to her heart.

“On this particular trip, I am down here in Sydney and I have met with a couple of the offices here and we have some meetings tonight. We came out here, as you know Shine Lawyers sponsors the team, and I am going to be your biggest fan now!” Brockovich said.

“I love this jersey. I am going to sport this thing all day in Sydney while I go sight seeing!” she added

However she is keen to return to Australia later in the year to cheer on the Blue and Gold.

“If you are up in Darwin in that stifling heat I am going to die! I will have to be out there in a bikini yelling “Go guys!”

“But yes I will get to a game. I will come back to Australia in the winter when it is a little bit cooler.”

“I am here to cheer you on and I’ll come for a game. You have my word!”
