Dyldam Parramatta Eels assistant coach Pete Gentle says his side has not been fazed by the media hype and noise around tonight’s game and will be excited to kick off their 2015 campaign against a tough Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles side on Friday night at Pirtek Stadium.

In our weekly Unibet Game Day Preview, Gentle expects a big performance from the Blue and Gold forwards to control a dangerous Manly outfit.

“Manly have been a very tough outfit for the last few years and there will be nothing different there,” Gentle said.

“It’s early in the year and we have done a lot in our game and that’s more the priority for us at the moment”

“We have to control the middle to keep Cherry Evans and Foran out of the game by giving them as little as possible to play off the back of.”

“It’s a very big job from our middle.”

The Eels side are ‘buzzing’ to kick off their season according to Gentle and expects the squad to give the vocal Blue and Gold Army plenty to cheer about.

“We just finished the captains run yesterday and the boys are buzzing and can’t wait to get out there,” Gentle said.

“As coaches we are excited about it and as fans we are excited about it.”

“We have to give the Blue and Gold something to cheer about, and I think we can give that to them pretty early in the game and hopefully they are in full voice for the whole 80 minutes.”

Kick off is at 7:45pm.
