Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur has praised the efforts of his wingers following their Round 1 win against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

In an interview with Triple M on Saturday, Arthur spoke about the influence Semi Radradra and Reece Robinson had on the team on Friday night.

While Radradra scored three tries, Arthur felt that it was his effort in defence that should also be noted.

“We’ve done a lot of work with him in the preseason and to his credit, if I had to pick out who was the best player last night I’d say Semi” Arthur said.

“And it’s not because of the three tries, its because of his defensive effort.”

“He got to marker, he chased on kicks, he got marker again and hassled them. He wasn’t known for his game last year and it’s something he needed to improve on, so he was really good in all aspects of the game.”

Arthur also praised fellow winger, and new recruit to the Blue and Gold, Robinson for his composure and ability to take some pressure off halfback Chris Sandow as goal kicker on Friday night.

“I’m a believer that our wingers can play a bit more of a role and if we’ve got one that can kick as good as Reece and he is nice and calm and composed, he takes a bit of pressure off Chris,” he said.

“Chris is a competitor and he wants to do it but he understands that it’s better for the team,” Arthur added.

“With Chris, his whole attitude at the moment is what’s best for the team. Chris is going to be a handy back up if something doesn’t work with Reece.”
