Dyldam Parramatta Eels outside back Ryan Morgan says that the Blue and Gold are not focused on their position on the ladder, but rather have their eyes set on the week to week challenge of the final 8 rounds of the 2015 NRL Telstra Premiership.

Fresh from the bye, Morgan says the Eels will be focused on a strong performance against the Bulldogs, who they suffered a 32-12 defeat in an injury-plagued Round 2 clash.

“We are on a bit of a roll but it is good to freshen up and hopefully we get a few back this week,” Morgan said to the media Tuesday morning.

“Whilst it is good [that we are on the cusp of making the eight], we are focused on week to week.” Morgan added.

“We are focused on going out there and doing our best, we aren’t really looking at the ladder.”

With the Eels scoring three wins from their past three outings, along with two byes in the last five week period, Morgan said the side had spoken about the recent off-field media hype, however they were focused purely on their on-field performances.

“We have spoken about that as a team to get it out of our heads and we are focused on putting on the best performance week in week out, and that’s what we will be doing for the next eight games.”

With a positive past five weeks, Morgan put it down to a close and tight knit group who were beginning to learn how to close out the close games.

“Wins change the mood. You wake up in the morning and the bumps don’t hurt as much,” Morgan said.

“Sticking together, and forming a tight knit group around us, and not letting anything else affect us.” Morgan added.

“If anything came out, we were just backing each other, and that really helped us and it is showing on the field that we are working hard for each other, especially in ‘D’.”

“We have been pretty competitive the last couple of months, it is just the last couple of games we have learnt how to close them out. We have been unlucky the last couple of weeks before that.”
