Parramatta five-eighth Corey Norman says watch out for his blockbusting teammate Semi Radradra when the Eels try to make another big run at the Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines in February.
Parramatta made the Nines quarter-finals in 2014, when massive winger Radradra was the tournament's equal-leading try-scorer, with five, and the semi-finals this year. Norman played in both tournaments.
Radradra continues to go from strength to strength and is locked in a battle with Canterbury winger Curtis Rona for the leading try-scorer title in the NRL this season. Radradra has scored 19 tries in 15 games.
"Semi is very dangerous in Nines footy," Norman says. "He has played a bit of Sevens in the past as well, so this sort of football is right up his alley. He's dangerous with 13 defenders on the field, let alone nine.
"We should be able to do well again in February's event and Semi could do a lot of damage there if he gets the chance."
The Nines could well be New Zealand Test five-eighth Kieran Foran's first outing for the Eels after he switches from Manly at the end of this season.
Norman says he loves playing in the Nines and is looking forward to being a part of it again.
"I really enjoy it," Norman says. "It's exciting. It mixes things up a bit and it's a lot of fun to start the season off. It's all about playing good footy and putting a show on for the crowd."
The 2016 event will be held at Eden Park in Auckland on 6-7 February and tickets to "The Greatest Weekend" are now available at prices ranging from just $NZD69 (approx. $AUD61) for a two-day pass.
Tickets for children are available at half the adult price in most categories.
The biggest stars in the NRL, representing all 16 clubs, will again be playing in the event - including superstars Billy Slater and Shaun Johnson, who have each nominated the Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines as their comeback date from major injuries that ended their 2015 NRL seasons early.
It is going to be a great opportunity for league fans to see the best players in the game exercising their super skills on an open field.
There is nothing like this tournament for excitement, with NRL teams facing up against NRL teams in quick succession over one action-packed weekend leading up to the final prize.
The fans will also be able to get up close and personal and watch teams go through their warm-ups for games on the number one field.
There will be a whopping $NZ2.6 million in prizemoney up for grabs at the Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines ... This is your chance to see the greatest rugby league players in the world really turning it on for the fans.
