The Australian Kangaroos Touring team

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels send their sincerest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Ronald Boden, who passed away this week.

A former Captain of the Blue and Gold, Boden joined Parramatta in the 1960 season after touring with the Australian side in England, making his mark as a strong defender in the side on field, and one of the entertainers of the team off it.

Boden played with Parramatta for four seasons, Captain-coaching the side in 1961, and forming a lifelong relationship with the club as he continued to attend functions through the years and speak with pride of being a part of “the house Jack built”.

As a footballer, Ron Boden will be remembered not only for his games for the Blue and Gold, but for representing NSW, Queensland, Australia and “the rest of the world” in the greatest game of all.

Vale Ron, Parramatta player number 184.
