The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs Judy Gibson, wife of the late Jack Gibson, OAM.

The Gibson family has been part of the Blue and Gold since the 1980s, with Jack coaching the Eels to their maiden Premiership in the 1981 season and the famous “threepeat” of wins from 1981 to 1983, and inducted into the Parramatta Eels Hall of Fame in 2002.

Each season, the Eels and the Sydney Roosters compete for the Jack Gibson Cup, a reminder of the Gibson family’s contribution to the two famous clubs.

Parramatta National Rugby League Chairman Steve Sharp said the contribution of the Gibsons to the Eels and the game could not be underestimated.

“Having known Judy as part of the Parramatta community, I can say that this is a sad time for rugby league,” Sharp said.

The entire Blue and Gold family extends its sympathies to the Gibson family, Judy’s friends and loved ones.
