As you have heard earlier this week, NSW Origin and Australian centre Michael Jennings has joined our 2016 roster. At 27 years of age, Michael is in the prime of his career and will complement our already outstanding squad. On behalf of all Eels members and fans I welcome Michael to our club.

With the Auckland 9s just two weeks away, the smell of footy is back in the air. The mighty Eels have been working through their preparation since early November and I for one have not seen a more intense pre-season in my 40 odd years in the game. March 3rd can not come quickly enough for me.

February 20th is our final trial match out at Penrith against the Panthers, followed by the Blue and gold Army Festival on Sunday, February 21st, on the Pirtek Stadium training field.

The Blue and Gold Army Festival day was outstanding last year, and promises to be even better this year. Bring the kids out to get a photo with their favourite player, and remember that Blue and Gold Army Members can enter from 10am before the doors open to non-Members at 11.30am.

Just a short note on recent media speculation regarding the NRL Governance review. I want to assure members and supporters that we are hopeful that the process will be completed without any impact on competition points.

There are a handful of recommendations about which we are currently in discussions with the NRL, but I believe these will be resolved by the end of February.

I truly look forward to seeing you all throughout the coming season.

Stay strong, stay united, stay Blue and Gold.

Chairman
