The Dyldam Parramatta Eels will kick off the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership next Thursday, with their season opener against the Brisbane Broncos at Pirtek Stadium (Thursday 3 March).
With the NRL Season Launch hosted yesterday, Club Captain Mannah said the side was eager to get back out onto the field in front of a big Blue and Gold Army.
“It would be great to see a big crowd out there next Thursday,” Mannah said.
“For us, it is a big honour to be able to kick off the NRL season against a big club like the Broncos at Pirtek Stadium is very exciting. It’s a great chance to pack it out with all our fans and hopefully it’s a sell out.”
“I think there is a bit of a buzz in the air, we have recruited well with a lot of new players playing their first game for the club now, and the young guys are really excited to go. I really think a big crowd will be a special way to start the year.” Mannah added.
Mannah said he and the rest of the squad wer eager to get the season underway.
“Like most players, the last few weeks have dragged on a bit and you start getting itchy feet because you just want to get the season started,” Mannah said.
“But we are there now, only a few days away from playing our first game and I’m very excited about it.”
“Trials are always good to get a bit of relief from the stress and the strain of the off-season but it doesn’t really feel real until you start the NRL season.”
