The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are looking forward to their first game of the season this Thursday night at Pirtek Stadium.

Kicking off the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership against the Brisbane Broncos, the Blue and Gold will be looking to put their 4 months of pre-season training into practice against last year’s grand finalists.

“We’re really looking forward to it. Finally get to get out there and play some footy.” Team Captain Kieran Foran said.

“It’s been a tough pre season so I know everyone’s really looking forward to the match on Thursday night.”

With the Eels taking on the Brisbane Broncos, last year’s grand finalists, Foran is expecting a tough opposition to kick off the season and spoke of the importance of the battle of the forwards.

"It's never a good time to get a quality side like Brisbane. They have strike all over the paddock but we are hoping we can go out there and match them through the middle and come away with the win." Foran said.

“I’m sure that grand final loss will still be in the back of their minds and they will want to make sure they get off to a good start.” He added.

"We just have to worry about ourselves, get our gameplan and our job right. If we do that we will give ourselves every opportunity to get the two points."

And Foran is looking forward to linking up with his new halves partner Corey Norman, who is coming off the back of a strong Auckland Nines display.

“It’s been a smooth transition, we’ve done a fair few work ball session this week and we feel like everything is coming along nicely." Foran said.

"My combination with Corey is coming along, and we just want to do our role in the team and let our forwards lay the platform."
