The Dyldam Parramatta Eels have today informed the NRL that the club will contest second-rower Manu Ma’u’s dangerous contact charge.

Ma’u was placed on report during the Eels’ Round 4 win over the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium, and charged with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact (head/neck) by the Match Review Committee for his tackle on Tigers’ second-rower Josh Aloiai in the 58th minute.

If the club is unsuccessful, Ma’u will miss 2 games. If Ma’u had accepted an early guilty plea, he would have missed 2 games.

The Eels will appear on Ma’u’s behalf on Wednesday night via Counsel.
