Dyldam Parramatta Eels prop Daniel Alvaro says stepping into the Eels starting side was made easier thanks to the guidance of some of the Blue and Gold’s veteran forwards.

With club Captain Tim Mannah sidelines with a fractured scapula, Alvaro pulled on the number 10 jersey to start for the Eels against the Canberra Raiders at home and Pirtek Stadium.

“Blokes like Wicksy (Danny Wicks), Timmy (Tim Mannah), and Beauy (Beau Scott), they’re unreal,” Alvaro said.

“They’ve just supported me so much and I’m so appreciative. [Beau] is a weapon so I just try and do what he does.”

And while the step back into first grade was a step up in pace, Alvaro says he was thrilled to be back playing in Blue and Gold in front of a vocal Blue and Gold Army.

“They were awesome, we couldn’t hear each other,” Alvaro said.

“[The game] was fast; I was gassed after about 2 minutes. They can really get rolling forward, the Raiders, and we did our best to stop that. I think we did that today so happy with the result.”

“Once I got in the groove it felt good, and I was glad to be back.”
