The Dyldam Parramatta Eels came away with a tough fought 22-10 victory over the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval last night and Blue and Gold forward said a half time speech from Head Coach Brad Arthur ensured the side lifted after a slow start.
With the Eels having a lack of possession and field position in the opening half, Ma’u said the Blue and Gold were put under pressure early, by a Manly side that came flying out of the blocks.
“The first 20 minutes was pretty tough. Manly came our flying and Darcy was out there trying to put shots on the boys,” Ma’u said after the match.
“We just hung in there and got the two points.”
With the Eels and Sea Eagles entering the half time sheds with 8 points a piece, Ma’u said Head Coach Brad Arthur revved up the side to get them out of first and second gear.
“It felt like in that first half, we were stuck in the first two gears,” Ma’u said.
“We had to come out in that second half and turn it up another notch.”
“We didn’t really start well so Brad’s message was for us to come out in the second half and just rip in.”
