The Parramatta Eels have defeated the Gold Coast Titans in the Quarter Finals, coming away 14-0 victors and securing their place in the Semi Finals of the 2017 Downer NRL Auckland Nines.
The Eels kicked off the match with a mountain off possession, taking the short kick off before some big runs from David Gower, Suaia Matagi and Tepai Moeroa. A short side play from Clint Gutherson saw the half grubber the ball into the in goal for a flying Radradra but the ball bounced long and the Eels first chance to put points on the board went slipping.
But the Eels continued to maintain the pressure and had a wealth of possession in the first half, earning repeat set after repeat set.
It took some scrambling defence and big defensive efforts from the Titans to repel the Eels, but after several sets on the line, a backline shift saw Bevan French cross out wide to put the Eels up in front.
Corey Norman converted the try as the Eels took a 6-0 lead into the second half.
With both sides looking to play some expansive football in the second half, it was the Eels who struck first. Radradra found himself at first receiver 10m out from the Titans line and a huge dummy and step saw the winger get across the line.
Off the back of some brutal defence by Matagi, the Eels found themselves in the attacking zone again, and a well-weighted grubber from Jamal Fogarty found the flying French to plant it for his second of the match.
The Titans looked to score in the final minute of the match, but some desperate defence from Gutherson pulled down winger Anthony Don to keep the Eels scorecard clean.
The Eels came away with a 14-0 victory over the Titans and secured their spot in the Semi Finals against the Penrith Panthers.
