In 2017, when the Parramatta Eels win on the field, we will be announcing three awards presented to the players following the game.
The awards are:
· Rebel Moment of the Week Award
· Grappa Relentless Effort Award and
· Pendle Hill Meat Market Own Your Job Award
These awards are presented to the players as chosen by Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur and the Blue & Gold coaching staff in relation to how they meet the Eels standards and expectations.
See the Round Seven Eels Awards below.
Rebel Moment of the Week Award – Kirisome Auva’a
With the Eels trailing 22-10, the Blue & Gold found themselves defending consecutive sets on their own line in the 60th minute.
The defence held strong, and after determined runs from Semi Radradra and Clint Gutherson, bringing the Eels to halfway, the ball found it’s way into the hands of Michael Jennings. The speedy centre then drifted in field, beating multiple defenders before finding five-eighth Brad Takairangi, who sliced the Wests Tigers open with a right foot step, before grubbering for a flying Kirisome Auva’a, who won the footrace to the ball to score his second try of the afternoon.
The try was the first of three Eels tries in twelve minutes, and the start of the Eels come from behind victory, with Auva’a’s effort claiming this week’s Rebel Moment of the Week Award.
Grappa Relentless Effort Award – Nathan Brown
Parramatta Eels lock Nathan Brown earns this week’s Grappa Relentless Effort Award.
The forward, whose recent strong form has been rewarded with a spot in the starting line up, had a mammoth 80 minute performance with 162m from 19 run, to go alongside his 37 tackles.
A real workhorse performance against his former Club.
Pendle Hill Own Your Job Award – Clint Gutherson
Parramatta Eels fullback Clint Gutherson earns this week’s Pendle Hill Own Your Job Award.
Named at fullback for the second week in a row, Gutherson had a busy 80 minute performance, with 184m from his 18 runs including 1 line break, 1 try assist and three goals.
A tireless performance from Gutherson who remained busy for the entire 80 minutes and worked hard to get involved in the action.
