The Parramatta Eels take on the Canberra Raiders at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 20 May in Round 11 of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

The Eels welcome new recruit Mitch Moses to the side, and with Corey Norman ruled out with injury, Blue & Gold centre Michael Jennings says the arrival of Moses couldn’t come at a better time.

“I think it’s perfect timing with losing Normy there, he [Moses] has fit in straight away and has been pretty vocal at training.” Jennings said of the new recruit.

“It’s unfortunate for Normy, losing him there for a couple of weeks, so it’s a blessing for us that we get Mitch straight in and hopefully it all goes well for us and does his job.”

“He is a confident kid, confident in his ability. He already has a few mates here, knowing a few of the boys so he has been fine so far.”

“He is working with BA and behind the scenes he is doing extra video, and just has to get on with it and straight into it. We have Canberra this week and he is doing his best to get our structure and how we play.” Jennings added.

However the side won’t put too much pressure on Moses, ensuring he is comfortable in his new colours.

“I think first of all it’s making him comfortable and making comfortable with his ability and being around the boys. It’s about bringing him into the team, not so much all about the structural stuff, but getting him into the team and welcome around the boys.”

“It’s easy for us to know his name, but he has to know 40-odd plus players names so we will give him a break there!” Jennings joked.

The inclusion of Moses comes at a good time, after the Eels suffered a disappointing defeat to the Roosters in Round 10.

“It was a poor performance on Sunday afternoon, but we are past that now,” Jennings said.

“It is a bit of a lift having Mitch here, especially losing Normy, it’s a massive boost for us. The quality player that he is, and what he brings to the team, it si going to be an exciting weekend.”
