In 2017, when the Parramatta Eels win on the field, we will be announcing three awards presented to the players following the game.
The awards are:
· Rebel Moment of the Week Award
· Grappa Relentless Effort Award and
· Pendle Hill Meat Market Own Your Job Award
These awards are presented to the players as chosen by Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur and the Blue & Gold coaching staff in relation to how they meet the Eels standards and expectations.
See the Round Thirteen Eels Awards below.
Rebel Moment of the Week Award – Semi Radradra
This week’s Rebel Moment of the Week Award goes to Blue & Gold winger Semi Radradra, for his long range, momentum swinging effort in the 33rd minute of the clash.
The Eels had taken an early 12 point lead, before the Warriors struck back with two tries of their own and the Warriors, with all the momentum, were attacking the Eels line looking for their third try of the evening.
A loose ball fell to the ground, and some quick thinking and hands by Eels’ David Gower and Clint Gutherson saw the ball go to Radradra inside the 20m line.
The winger reached top speed to run clear from the Warriors defence, before coming one on one with Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. At full speed, Radradra fended and shrugged off the Warriors fullback before planting the ball under the posts for an 80metre effort that halted the Warriors momentum and gave the Blue & Gold a six point lead heading into half time.
Grappa Relentless Effort Award – Nathan Brown
This week’s Grappa Relentless Effort Award goes to Blue & Gold forward Nathan Brown.
An 80 minute performance from the tough lock, who played through a rib injury and a mounting injury toll elsewhere in the team.
The stat sheet shows 178m and 39 tackles during Brown’s performance, but the forward also had a swift cut-out pass to set up the opening try of the game to Kirisome Auva’a and his nice second-half offload helped Tepai Moeroa score.
Pendle Hill Meat Market Own Your Job Award – Clint Gutherson
This week’s Pendle Hill Meat Market Own Your Job Award goes to Blue & Gold half Clint Gutherson.
The versatile footballer had his hand in everything, with 107 run metres, 14 tackles, 2 line breaks, one try assist and the four pointer in the final minute of the clash to secure the two points for the Blue & Gold.
A laser-like night with the boot, nailing three crucial conversions from the sideline, as he went on to post 16 points on the night, along with his two line breaks that led to two tries.
