This week, when the Parramatta Eels take on the St. George Illawarra Dragons at ANZ Stadium on Sunday 18 June in Round Fifteen of the NRL Telstra Premiership, the Wentworthville United Junior Try Team team will run the Blue & Gold out onto the ground before kick off, as the Shine Lawyers Team of the Week!

The Wentworthville United Junior Try Time team submitted their entry and were the chosen team after their submission demonstrated Shine’s values.

As part of their submission, the Wentworthville United Junior Try Time team shines because “they have now been given the opportunity through the Try Time program to play Rugby League and be part of a team. Some of these children could not catch a ball but are now passing and kicking like any other junior rugby league player.”

“Also the consistent smiles on their faces demonstrate how much being part of this team means to them.”

Try Time Junior Rugby League is an inclusive junior rugby league program for people with special needs and intellectual disabilities, with both junior and senior teams playing every weekend in the Parramatta Junior Rugby League.

“The Try Time team at Wentworthville United promote equality, inclusiveness and a fair go for all whilst developing skills and sportsmanship through the game of Rugby League.”

Congratulations to the Wentworthville United Junior Try Time team!
