This week, when the Parramatta Eels take on the Gold Coast Titans at ANZ Stadium on Thursday 17 August for Round Twenty Four of the NRL Telstra Premiership, the U14 All Saints Toongabbie Tigers side will run the Blue & Gold out onto the ground before kick off, as the Shine Lawyers Team of the Week!
The U14 All Saints Toongabbie Tigers side submitted their entry and were the chosen team after their submission demonstrated Shine’s values.
As part of their submission, the U14 All Saints Toongabbie Tigers side were described as a team that shines because "Our Under 14 girls are unique in the PJRL as they are the only U14 Girls team and as a result have had to play in the Penrith Competition in 2017. This has seen many challenges with times and distances to travel but the resilience shown by the girls and their parents is outstanding."
"They have taken on established teams in the Penrith comp and manged to finish 4th and make the Semi Finals. Although beaten in the Semi's the girls were gallant in defeat and loved every minute of their Rugby League experience in 2017. This is a Credit to coaching staff of Tayla, Greg, Mason, Shane, John, Ben, Emma and Tim who have supported the Girls all year."
The team's philosophy is "Our Club worked hard in the off season due to some interest for a Girls team."
"This is one of the proudest achievements in our clubs history to have an outstanding bunch of Girls represent us in our inaugural year entering into the new womens Rugby league format."
"Womens Rugby League fits in with our Family atmosphere that we strive to achieve within our club and we are looking to go from strength to strength in all age groups for Womens Rugby league in 2018 and beyond."
