The Parramatta Eels are preparing to take on the Brisbane Broncos on Thursday 24 August in Round 25 of the NRL Telstra Premiership.
After a convincing 30-8 victory over the Gold Coast Titans last week, with the Eels securing their spot in the Finals for the first time since 2009, they now prepare to travel to Suncorp Stadium against the second placed Broncos.
Alvaro says this week’s clash is important ahead of the Finals to build some form and confidence amongst the Blue & Gold squad.
“This game is massive for us.” Alvaro said,
“We have just been focused on what we do and what we have to do to get right to roll into the Finals in some good form and some confidence.”
“Their first ten minutes against us was outstanding, they came out firing and led out with a couple of quick tries, so we were really lucky to get back in that one. But I don’t think we will get that this time and we are expecting a big physical game.” Alvaro added.
Hear from Michael Jennings ahead of the Broncos
The Eels currently sit fifth on the ladder, preparing to take on the second placed Broncos, and Alvaro says the side is treating this clash like a Semi Final, with the Eels hoping to push their way into the Top Four.
“We know it will be a tough game and it’s a really important one for us. It’s one we really want to win and are treating it like a Semi rolling into the Finals.” Alvaro said.
“It’s massive, to get that home Semi and a second chance, hopefully we won’t need it, but to have that up your sleeve it’s massive heading into the Finals.”
“We are focusing on what we need to do these last couple of weeks and getting right the things we have to get right.” He added.
The Eels kick off against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday 24 August in Round 25 of the NRL Telstra Premiership.
Kick off at 7:50pm.
