Making his Club debut in Round 6 against the New Zealand Warriors, after an injury to Bevan French, Auva’a made the most of his opportunities in the Eels backline.
A solid and powerful outside back, Auva’a proved hard to handle with the ball, often taking the hard early hit ups in the set to make crucial metres out of the Eels half.
With a hard running mentality, Auva’a was also damaging down the attacking end of the field, crossing for seven tries this season. The outside back also showed lighting quick speed to score on several occasions.
Auva’a put his name into the history books scoring the fastest try in NRL history against the Brisbane Broncos, scoring inside the first 13 seconds at Suncorp Stadium in Round 25.
Broncos prop Adam Blair was smashed by Eels defenders as he brought the ball back off the kick off to start the game and as the Kiwi forward attempted to offload the ball on the first tackle, Auva’a pounced on the loose ball to put his name into the NRL record books.
