Mooney claims U16 NSW Player of the Year

Young Parramatta Eels forward Trey Mooney has claimed the Under-16s NSW State Player of the Year award last night (Monday 10 September) at the 2018 Brad Fittler Medal.

Mooney shared the stage with some of the state’s rising talent and NSW Blues award winners as NSWRL capped off their year and impressive State of Origin campaign.

"This award means the world to me,” Mooney said when accepting the award.

“These accolades are a great part of the journey.”

This is a chance and an opportunity for me to take my career to another level."

The award caps off a big year for the young forward, who also claimed the Parramatta Eels Harold Matthews Cup Best Forward award at the Blue & Gold 2018 District Rep Teams Presentation Night earlier in the year.

Mooney also captained the Eels Harold Matthews side in their Grand Final clash against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.
