Late last month, the Men of League Foundation announced that they have reached an unprecedented height for their yearly wellbeing spend, distributing over $1,000,000 to the men, women and children of the rugby league community in 2018.

Founded in 2002 by Ron Coote AM, Jim Hall and Max Brown to give a hand to their old playing mates who had struck hard times, the Men of League Foundation has progressively grown to assist more than just past players, and today they support any of the men, women and children within the rugby league community who are faced with physical, financial or emotional hardship.

National Rugby League Chief Executive Officer Todd Greenberg says that the Men of League Foundation’s achievement is a fantastic way to cap off a great year for rugby league’s charity of choice.

“This wonderful milestone is a true testament to the dedication of the Men of League Foundation’s members, volunteers and staff and the hard work that they have put in for 2018.

“They continue to pledge their support to not just past players of the game, but anyone with a connection to the great game of rugby league. On behalf of the National Rugby League, I would like to congratulate them for their outstanding work and we look forward to supporting the Foundation again in 2019.”

Wellbeing recipient Laura Shakespeare, one of the many wellbeing recipients whom the Foundation has supported in 2018, expressed her sincere thanks to the Foundation for their care and consideration.

“Mentally and emotionally my wounds were healed after the Men of League Foundation contacted me.  I feel at ease knowing I can concentrate on putting all my strength into my recovery.”

“The Men of League Foundation have been such a blessing to me and my family and will forever hold a special spot in mine and my children’s hearts,” Laura said.
