Match Preview: Eels v Wests Tigers, Bankwest Stadium, Round Six

Sterlo's Parra Preview | Eels v Wests Tigers, Bankwest Stadium, Round Six

The Parramatta Eels take on the Wests Tigers at the first ever sporting event held at the brand new, state of the art Bankwest Stadium on Easter Monday (22 April) in Round Six of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

In the history-making first NRL game at the Eels home, Blue & Gold Head Coach Brad Arthur has made two changes to his seventeen for the clash that suffered a 19-0 defeat to the Raiders last week.

Young forwards Oregon Kaufusi and Ray Stone have been named on the bench alongside Peni Terepo and Tim Mannah with David Gower, Kane Evans, Josh Hoffman and Greg Leleisiuao on the extended bench.

Despite leaving the field early into the second half last week, Blake Ferguson has been named on the wing.

For the opposition, the Wests Tigers, Head Coach Michael Maguire has named an unchanged side that came away with a thrilling victory over the Brisbane Broncos last week.

Josh Reynolds retains his spot at five-eighth with Benji Marshall still unavailable for selection with a hamstring injury. Robert Jennings has also been named in the centres and will require to undergo the appropriate concussion protocols this week.

With Chris Lawrence, Oliver Clark and Jacob Liddle unavailable with injury, Maguire has named Ben Matulino, Thomas Mikaele, Matt Eisenhuth, Michael Chee Kam on the interchange and Paul Momirovski, Elijah Taylor, David Nofoaluma and Chris McQueen on the reserves.

Updated 19-man teams will be announced 24 hours before kickoff (4:00pm, Sunday) with final teams confirmed one hour prior to the Easter Monday clash at 3:00pm.

Historically the Eels hold a slight head to head advantage with 21 wins from 37 clashes between the two sides. The Eels came away victors in the last time these two sides met, an exciting 24-22 in Round Eight of the 2018 season, and have been victorious in 4 out of the last 6 games between the two.

Both sides enter this clash with 3-2 records in 2019.

However hitting Bankwest Stadium for the first game, both teams will be eager to secure a victory in the historic clash in front of a sold out stadium.

The Wests Tigers will be filled with confidence after a thrilling last minute try to forward Michael Chee Kam which saw them prevail over the Broncos whilst the Eels will be determined in getting the job done in front of their loyal Blue & Gold Members and fans cheering them on at their new ground.

Kick off is at 4pm.
