Anthony Shiner to step down from the Parramatta Eels Board

Parramatta National Rugby League Club Board Director Anthony Shiner has informed the Eels of his intention to step down from the board due to his expanding role as a senior executive with Du Mobile & Virgin Mobile UAE in Dubai.

Anthony was one of five independent directors appointed to the Eels Board following the adoption of a new Club Constitution in early 2017.

“It’s been a privilege to have been able to serve the Members and supporters of our great club as a director since 2017,” Mr Shiner said.

“It was important for our Club to have strong and stable board to help rebuild confidence over past two years and I am especially proud to have been a part of the process.”

“The successful transition of the Eels back to Bankwest Stadium, the finalisation of our multi-year strategic plan and the recovery in the Club’s financial position are all initiatives of which the Board and management can be proud of.

"The future is very promising and I look forward to seeing more success come our way very soon, albeit from a distance"

Eels chairman Sean McElduff thanked Anthony for his dedication and ongoing support.

“He will be incredibly hard to replace, but we fully understand his position and know that he will not be lost to the Eels going forward".

Anthony has kindly agreed to remain on the Board while the Club completes its Director nomination and selection process.
