Peking Duk’s Reuben Styles remasters Eels’ game day

The Parramatta Eels’ game day has a new look and feel in 2021, thanks in part to Reuben Styles of Peking Duk.

The DJ and music producer is a die-hard Eels fan and jumped on board at the opportunity to curate music for this year’s game day.

“Around the age of five or six I was given the great opportunity to follow my very first NRL team. I lived in Canberra … but I just loved the colours blue and yellow too much,” Reuben said.

“I decided to start watching every Parramatta Eels game and I quickly fell in love with the team and their fighting spirit with players like (Clinton) Schifcofske, Mick Vella and of course all-time maddogs, the Hindmarsh bros,” he said.

Reuben created a remix of Metallica’s Enter the Sandman for the team’s run-on track.

The track also features the voice of the late Parramatta Eels Life Member and Club legend Denis “Big D” Anderson yelling “Parra’s in the Tunnel”, in a touching tribute.

He has also pulled together a playlist for game day (stay tuned!)

“I wanted to keep it along the lines of pump-up music but way more fun and enjoyable,” Reuben said.

“I had to put a few nostalgic moments to keep that feeling in the air like Danger Zone from Top Gun and The Stooges banger I Wanna Be Your Dog.

“I obviously wanted to throw in big celebratory heaters with fat riffs like The Final Countdown and Eye of the Tiger... but I also really wanted to include rad indigenous Australian and female artists,” he said.

Reuben is hoping his input might become part of history around the corner.

“During my lifetime Eels are yet to win a grand final, but now more than ever I can smell it coming,” he said.

He is no stranger to making people move - with millions of punters cutting shapes during his energy fueled gigs around the world to Peking Duk’s ARIA award winning songs such as 2014’s ‘High’ and 2016’s ‘Stranger’. Dishing out a mix of original bangers and party classics, Reuben is eager to continue his d-floor sweat domination at festivals and clubs all through 2021.
