Eels and Titans Unite for Tonga

The Parramatta Eels and Gold Coast Titans will this week join forces to help raise much-needed funds for Tonga following the volcanic eruption and tsunami earlier this year.

84 percent of the population of Tonga was affected by the disaster, with homes destroyed and families evacuated and displaced.

As the teams face off in Round Five on the Gold Coast, an online auction will be held selling off player-worn signed jerseys and the signed match ball.

All funds raised will go directly to the Australian Red Cross Tongan relief.

Tongan Parramatta Eels player Will Penisini has thrown his support behind the cause.

“The Tongan people are resilient and tough, but they are having to recover from a lot,” Penisini said.

“We have joined forces with the Titans to auction off signed jerseys and match balls from our game this weekend to raise money for the Australian Red Cross effort”

Australian Red Cross is continuing to support the Tonga Red Cross response and recovery effort through funding, the deployment of technical specialists, and the provision of essential relief items.

The online auction goes live one hour before  kick off on Saturday 9 April at 6:30pm.
