Vale: John Moran

Paramatta Eels Heritage Number 323

The Parramatta Eels are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Eels player #323, John Moran.

John made his first-grade debut for Penrith in 1969. In 1974, John joined Parramatta and made his first-grade debut in the same year.

John represented the Blue and Gold in the club’s first historic grand final appearance in 1976 against Manly at the Sydney Cricket Ground and was part of the united effort which brought Parramatta its first Club Championships in 1976 and 1977.

He made a significant contribution to the club playing in various positions across the park including wing and centre in first and reserve grades over four seasons with Parramatta from 1974 to 1977.

Coached by Norm Provan and then Terry Fearnley, John was part of the new era at the Eels playing alongside Geoff Gerard, Bob O’Reilly and John Quayle.

On behalf of everyone at the Club we would like pass on our deepest condolences to John’s friends and family at this difficult time.
