This school holidays, the Parramatta Eels teamed up with Surfing Australia to deliver a unique Active Participation experience for 25 students aged 6 to 11 years old from Rydalmere Public School and St Oliver’s Primary School, Harris Park.

Held at URBNSURF Sydney Olympic Park, participants took part in the Surf for Life program over six free sessions, helping them build confidence in the water while promoting active, healthy lifestyles.

Adding to the excitement, participants were joined by two-time world champion surfer Tom Carroll and Eels NRL player Joey Lussick. Earlier in the week, Eels NRL Player Luca Moretti also stopped by to meet the kids and get involved in the fun.

The initiative is part of Parra Eels Play, supported by City of Parramatta. Parra Eels Play is all about getting kids moving, having fun, and connecting with their community. From school programs and holiday camps to special events and experiences, the program creates inclusive opportunities for children to stay active and engaged. To date, over 7,000 primary school-aged children have taken part, clocking up more than 25,000 hours of active play.

Delivered by Surfing NSW and Surfing Australia, the Play Well Surf for Life program is proudly supported by the Australian Sports Commission. Created to provide life-changing opportunities, the program gives children who may not usually have access the chance to experience the joy of surfing. Over six weeks, 70 young people across NSW have grown in confidence and found connection both in and out of the water. To support their continued journey, each participant will receive a rashie and an $80 URBN Surf voucher.

We’re especially proud to offer these kinds of opportunities to students from such a vibrant and diverse community, many of whom may not have had the chance to experience activities like this before. We look forward to expanding the program and encouraging even more families across our region to get involved in active, community-focused experiences.
