Parramatta Eels congratulates NRLW stars Kennedy Cherrington, Abbi Church and Rory Owen who have been named for the 2025 Women's State of Origin series, with Game 1 set to take place on Wednesday, May 1 at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.

Both Cherrington and Church were foundation members of the Eels’ inaugural NRLW squad, and their selection in the New South Wales Blues squad marks a significant milestone in their rugby league journeys.

Club Rookie of the Year, Rory Owen made her rugby league debut in 2024 and will join the opposing Queensland camp for the Maroons.

It’s a proud moment not only for the players but for the club as well, highlighting the Eels’ growing influence in elite women’s rugby league.

Abbi Church’s call-up to the Blues squad caps off a standout 2024 season when she claimed the prestigious Dally M Fullback of the Year award. This marks her first-ever selection at the State of Origin level, a well-deserved reward for her consistent excellence and hard work.

Kennedy Cherrington, meanwhile, will make a long-awaited return to the Sky Blue jersey after being sidelined with a season-ending injury in 2024. A dynamic forward known for her physicality and leadership, Cherrington’s return adds strength and experience to the Blues pack as they look to reclaim the Origin shield.

Rory Owen made an immediate impact at centre in her debut NRLW season, with her speed and agility earning her a call up for Queensland.

Following their Origin commitments, Cherrington, Church and Owen will rejoin the Eels for pre-season training under NRLW Head Coach Steve Georgallis, as the team gears up for what promises to be an exciting 2025 campaign.
