Rivalry takes on a whole new meaning as the Eels and Panthers join forces with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood for the Battle of the West Lifeblood Challenge, a competition where saving lives is the ultimate goal.
Kicking off Sunday 1 June, and running until the Round 19 clash on Sunday 13 July, the challenge will see members and fans of both clubs roll up their sleeves to donate blood, plasma or platelets in support of their team.
How the Lifeblood Challenge works
Each eligible donation adds one point to the tally for either the Eels or the Panthers.
It’s simple to get involved:
- Register for a blood donor account at www.lifeblood.com.au if you haven’t already.
- Book your donation during the challenge period and give blood, plasma, or platelets.
- Nominate “Eels” as your team when you donate to help boost the Eels' tally.
- Every donation counts… not just for the scoreboard, but for the lives it saves. Each donation can help up to three Australians in need.
“We’ve always said our Club is more than just football, it’s about being there for our community. The Battle of the West Lifeblood Challenge is a chance to show that in action. Whether you’re donating blood or spreading the word, every effort helps save lives,” said Kate Chapman, Parramatta Eels GM of Brand, Social Impact and Fan Development.
Can’t donate? You can still make a difference
Even if you're not eligible to donate, you can still get involved. Be a cheerleader – spread the word to your family, friends and co-workers. The more people who donate, the more lives are saved, and the better your team's chance of winning the trophy.
