Vale Tom Whitehouse

The Parramatta Eels are saddened to learn of the passing of Eel #132 - Tom Whitehouse, aged 87.

Born Norman Thomas Whitehouse in Parramatta NSW on 10 November 1937, Tom proudly represented the club over two seasons, converting from outside back to prop.

He made his first grade debut in 1956 at just 19 years of age, scoring a try in his sole top-grade appearance that year. His commitment to the blue and gold was evident as he also played ten reserve grade games and five in third grade during the same season.

Tom flourished in the supportive Parramatta family environment, learning from the senior players as he progressed into first grade.

In 1957, Tom added five more first grade appearances to his name before a serious neck injury brought his playing career to a premature end.

He eventually became a truck driver and spent his later years caring for his garden.

Tom lived a life filled with dedication, hard work and love for his family until his passing on 14 August 2025.

Playing for the Parramatta Eels remained a cherished part of his life.

Tom was the beloved husband of the late Gwen and a devoted father to his late daughter Debra, and to his sons Allan and Michael.

The Parramatta Eels extend our deepest condolences to Tom’s family, friends, and former teammates during this difficult time.

Forever Eel #132.
