The Parramatta Eels have claimed the Witzer Pre-Season Challenge title for the first time, securing top honours on the back of two victories over the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and the Sydney Roosters.
The Blue and Gold collected the maximum 15 points available in each of their two matches to finish on 30 competition points - one clear of both the Gold Coast Titans and the Wests Tigers.
After dismantling the Sharks 40-6 in Round 2 at Henson Park, the Eels delivered under pressure, running in six tries to defeat the Roosters 28-22 in Gosford on Saturday. Despite trailing by 10 points at half time at Polytec Stadium, Jason Ryles’ side produced a dominant second-half display, registering 10 line breaks and 14 offloads to storm home and seal the victory.
The only side capable of denying Parramatta the title were the Titans, who needed a 29+ point win and maximum bonus points in their final fixture. When those conditions weren’t met, the Eels’ place at the top was confirmed.
Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill said the title capped off a demanding off-season and highlighted the strength of the Club’s emerging talent fresh off the back of winning the 2025 Flowers Memorial Pennant Club Championship.
“Congratulations to Head Coach Jason Ryles, our coaching staff, support staff and, of course, the players for their commitment throughout the pre-season,” Mark O’Neill said.
“This result will hopefully make our members, partners and fans proud. We appreciate their ongoing support and look forward to that continuing throughout the year.
“The players have a few days off now to recover and enjoy the moment. When they return, our focus will be solely directed towards performing well in the Telstra Premiership.”
Fans of the Blue and Gold will have the opportunity to enjoy 11 home games at CommBank Stadium in 2026 and cheer on the team at away fixtures.
