Eels Unveil the 2026 ANZAC Round Jersey Honouring Western Sydney’s Military Legacy

The Parramatta Eels are proud to unveil the Club’s 2026 ANZAC Round Jersey, a powerful tribute to the rich military history of Western Sydney and the enduring connection between community, service, and sport.

To be worn in Round 8 against Manly on April 26, the jersey features a striking true gold design inspired by the 1st/15th Royal New South Wales Lancers, one of Australia’s oldest and most decorated regiments. With historic barracks still standing in Parramatta, the Lancers remain a significant part of the region’s identity, making them a fitting centrepiece for this year’s commemorative design.

Intricately woven throughout the jersey is a feather pattern, symbolising the emu plume worn by the Australian Light Horse and carried on today by the Royal Australian Armoured Corps. This detail not only adds depth to the design but serves as a visual reminder of the bravery, resilience, and legacy of those who have served.

The jersey is completed with the official 1st/15th Royal New South Wales Lancers badge, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to honouring the service and sacrifice of Australian military personnel, past and present.

Importantly, the 2026 ANZAC Round Jersey also pays tribute to individuals who embody the intersection of local football and military service. Among them is Andrew John Hillier, who represented the A Grade Premiers of the Parramatta North Football Club prior to the formation of the Eels. Before joining, Hillier served with the Parramatta Lancers, creating a meaningful link between the Club’s earliest footballing roots and the region’s proud military heritage.

As the Eels take to the field in this special jersey, the Club invites Members and fans to join in commemorating ANZAC Round, reflecting on the courage, sacrifice, and spirit that continue to shape both our nation and our community.
