The Parramatta Eels are proud to unveil the Club's 2026 Indigenous Jersey, a design that celebrates connection, culture and the enduring power of water.
Inspired by the waterways that have connected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for tens of thousands of years, the jersey tells a story of belonging, movement and community. From saltwater Country to freshwater rivers, water is the lifeblood that links families, communities and generations, carrying stories, identity and culture across the land.
At the heart of the design is the journey of the eel, a powerful symbol of resilience and connection. Moving between both saltwater and freshwater, the eel reflects the journey of the Eels playing group, with athletes arriving in Parramatta from different Countries, communities and backgrounds, each bringing the strength of their own stories to become part of one team.
The artwork also honours the Indigenous players and families who are part of the Parramatta Eels. Individual symbols represent Indigenous members of the Club's playing group, while smaller motifs acknowledge the families and children who walk alongside them.
Camp symbols positioned along the flowing river represent the coming together of players, families and community in Parramatta, a place where cultures meet, stories are shared and lasting connections are formed.
More than a jersey, the 2026 Indigenous Jersey is a celebration of the people, stories and shared spirit that unite the Blue and Gold. It recognises the importance of connection to Country, to family and to one another, while reflecting the values that continue to shape the Parramatta Eels on and off the field.
