The Parramatta Eels joined the City of Parramatta’s 2026 Celebrating Girls in Sport Festival this week, helping inspire the next generation of young women to get involved in sport, back themselves and embrace new opportunities.
Held at Cricket Central, the annual festival brought together 243 students aged 13 to 18 from ten local high schools for a day focused on sport, confidence, leadership and connection.
Parramatta Eels NRLW player Layne Morgan joined an inspiring panel of female athletes, coaches and leaders, sharing her experiences with students alongside former Australian tennis player Casey Dellacqua, lawyer and professional cheerleader Raween Albarouki, cricket coach Aarya Shipurkar and global NFL and IFAF Flag Football ambassador Kodie Fuller.
The panel gave students the opportunity to hear first-hand stories of perseverance, achievement and leadership, while highlighting the different pathways that sport can create both on and off the field.
Following the panel, students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and try their hand at a range of sports and activities, including rugby league, cricket, flag gridiron, basketball, tennis, pickleball and mobile rock climbing.
The Parramatta Eels, are proud to support the Celebrating Girls in Sport event as it is an important part of creating opportunities for young women across Western Sydney to participate in sport, build confidence and see what is possible when they back themselves.
