Parramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur believes the Eels attitude and efforts was there, despite their 17-10 loss to the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville.
Here is what Arthur said during the post-match press conference.
On the Eels coming so close to a win
“The effort was great and the attitude; our performance was really positive, but some big moments in the game let us down and we lost them in the end,” Arthur said.
“We can’t be blaming individuals, just as a team there were moments in that game we didn’t get right.”
“There were a couple of moments at the end where we had the ball attacking the try line and we probably needed to be prepared to build some pressure and get another set.”
“We had 40 per-cent possession but they managed the game better,” he said.
On things the Eels have to work on
“We have to be prepared to build more pressure and get some more ball. With 40 per cent possession and that much quality ball on our try line, it makes hard work of it; we didn’t really play any field position at all,” Arthur said.
“We haven’t been great on the road and we’ve talked about it; coming away for business, for a job, but we just have to try to get ready for next week with the same effort,” he said.
On the Eels' defensive effort
“I was proud of their effort there, but we had a chance to win the game there and we let ourselves down at the back end there and there were moments in the game there we didn’t quite get right; some dumb moments really,” Arthur said.
