Eels proud to acknowledge women in rugby league

Round 22 of the NRL Telstra Premiership is Harvey Norman Women in League Round – a time to celebrate the many women at the heart of rugby league

The Eels will wear their 2019 Women In League jersey for their clash against the Titans on Friday night, with the jersey wishing to acknowledge women in rugby league and celebrate their many contributions to the game and our Club.

“Women in League round is fantastic,” said Eels forward David Gower.

The women in our lives play a big part, particularly our wives and early on in our lives our mothers and I have two young daughters now as well.”

“My wife has always been there to support me on the journey, she has rid the highs and gone on the lows with me as well, and to have her unwavering support is something I am really grateful for and appreciative of that.”

The Eels jersey shines a light on the role women play at all levels of Rugby League across the country from mums, partners, members, supporters, officials, administrators, referees along with the junior and senior women playing Touch and Rugby League.

The Eels Women In League jersey incorporates the names of Parramatta Eels Members, staff and the playing squads partners/mums names in the design of the jersey.

“To have a full round dedicated to all the women out there, not just the wives, mothers and kids, but the volunteers and everyone else associated in rugby league that are female, it's fantastic.” Gower said.

“I think it’s a really great gesture from the NRL, and the game in general, to actually acknowledge the hard work that all the ladies in rugby league do put in.”
