Game Day Guide: Sharks v Eels, Round 13

The Parramatta Eels face the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Sunday 9 August in Round 13 of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

The Eels enter the clash after a 18-16 victory over the Bulldogs last week, taking their record to 10-2 to start the season. The Sharks are coming off a 36-26 victory over the Broncos their seventh win of the season.

Here is what you need to know ahead of kick off!

Gutherson to play 100th game for the Eels

Parramatta Eels captain and fullback Clint Gutherson will play his 100th game for the Eels, leading out the side against the Sharks.

Johnny Mannah Cup

The two Clubs will play for the Johnny Mannah Cup, an annual fixture between the two sides that honours former Eels and Sharks player Jon Mannah.

An Eels junior who joined he Sharks in 2009, Mannah returned to Parramatta ahead of the 2012 season, before sadly passing away after losing his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma in January of 2013, aged just 23.

Since his passing, the two clubs have played for the Johnny Mannah Cup in their first meeting each season, with the Eels claiming the cup after a 24-12 victory in Round Four of the 2019 season.
