23 Eels Named In Rep Squad

A combined 23 Eels NRL, NRLW and Junior Pathways players named in Representative teams

 

Ampol State of Origin 

Three players from our women's team will link up with NSW following the Eels NRLW debut season earlier this year. Simaima Taufa, Tiana Penitani and Filomina Hanisi have been selected for the women's NSW Origin squad to play QLD on Friday.

Men's Game Two

Parramatta Eels co-captains Junior Paulo and Clint Gutherson reunite in the NSW Origin camp this week after Gutherson received a call-up to join the squad over the weekend.

U/19s State of Origin

Incredibly, six Eels players have been named in the Under 19's Sky Blue team, with Cassey Tohi-Hiku, Rueben Cherrington, Rosemarie Beckett, Petesa Lio, Tahlesha Maeva and Ruby-Jean Kennard in the squad, while Larry Muagututia is named in the men's team.

International teams

Rep Round kicked off last night with three Eels players debuting for Lebanon. Elie El-Zakhem and Jabriel Kalache played for the men's team, who defeated Malta 30 – 14. The game will be an opportunity to assess some of the emerging talent available to Lebanon ahead of the end-of-season World Cup in England. Debbie Doueihi from our Tarsha Gale team will play full-back for Lebanon Women over the weekend.

 

Dylan Brown and Marata Niukore will play their first Test for New Zealand. Brown will pair Storm star Jahrome Hughes in the halves, Niukore is named in the centres with the experienced Peta Hiku, while Isaiah Papali'i will join his Eels teammates on an edge alongside Kenny Bromwich. Will Penisini debuts for Mate Ma’a Tonga in the backline, while Seli Mailangi from our NRLW team will play for the Tongan women’s outfit in the halves.

Makahesi Makatoa has been rewarded with representative honours for Cook Islands, having only made his NRL debut for the Eels last year. He is a part of a young Cook Islands outfit to take on Samoa on Saturday afternoon.
