Parramatta Eels’ Fruit Pickers liquid tribute.
Ask the earliest generations of Eels fans, and they’ll tell you the story of their beloved football club, affectionately known as the ‘Fruit Pickers’.
Named after the local farmers who produced some of the finest citrus and stone fruit, the ‘Fruit Pickers’ were a team of local A-Grade footballers and ex-servicemen who became the pioneers of the Club we call the Parramatta Eels today. While the name has changed, the spirit of the ‘Fruit Pickers’ remains with us.
Working with Underground Spirits, the Parramatta Eels have produced a liquid tribute to the Club and the heart and soul of Parramatta. Using botanicals directly from the Parramatta area, we combined Port Jackson Fig, She-Oak Seeds, Magnolia 'Little Gem' Flower, Smooth-leaved Quandong, and Sunrise Lime to curate the perfect gin.
Parramatta Eels Club Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Mikhail said, “We wanted to capture the essence of our Club and ensure that the product included flavours that Parramatta Eels fans can relate to and be proud of."
"Through the process of curating this gin we’ve dived really deep into the Club’s history to tell the story about our pioneering Fruit Pickers."
The Eels have brought people together for generations, from the early Fruit Pickers era to the bustling cityscape today, the Eels journey has been bottled with the help of Underground Spirits.
Underground Spirits CEO, Claudia Roughley said, “Teaming up with the Parramatta Eels to create 'Fruit Pickers Gin' is about bottling the essence of a community and the shared love for the game.
“It's not just a drink; it's a journey through the history of Parramatta, from its 'Fruit Pickers' roots to the vibrant city it is today. This collaboration reflects Underground Spirits' commitment to crafting a premium, award-winning gin that resonates with the passion and pride of Eels fans.
“Here's to The Eels, here's to Parramatta, and here's to a gin that tells a story with every sip," said Claudia Roughley.
