Vale: Leonard (Len) Wadling

Paramatta Eels Heritage Number 148

The Parramatta Eels are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Parramatta Eels player #148, Leonard (Len) Wadling.

A handy winger and centre, Len began his career with the Eels in 1956, featuring in five games and scoring two tries for the U23s.

In 1957, following in the footsteps of his cousin Keith Gersbach who had played in the club's first-ever match a decade earlier, Len made his first grade debut, scoring a try in his very first game. He would play two more first grade games before departing the club at the end of the 1957 season.

Len joined Manly in 1959. That same year, he played on the wing in the Grand Final against St George.

Len retired from rugby league at the end of 1963.

A concreter by trade, Len was married to Pat and had five children.  He would continue to follow footy for most of his life.

Len passed away in December 2024 near Grafton.

The Parramatta Eels extend their heartfelt condolences to Len's family, friends, and all who knew him. He will always be remembered as Parramatta Eels player #148.
