A busy weekend of Test football saw several Eels in action for their countries, with Parramatta's Kiwi and Fijian contingent tasting victory.
Dylan Brown was heavily involved in New Zealand's 50-0 smashing of Samoa in Auckland, clocking almost 200 run metres. Eels teammates Junior Paulo and Daejarn Asi were on the losing side in a disappointing day for Samoa.
Maika Sivo and Waqa Blake were on the scoresheet as Fiji claimed a last-gasp win over the Cook Islands in Port Morseby. The two combined for Sivo's spectacular first-half try, before Blake scored a crucial four-pointer later in the match.
Will Penisini played in Tonga's opening match of their tri-series against England, and was a damaging presence at right centre with a number of dangerous runs and strong tackles. Tonga fell short however, as England narrowly won 22-18.
Capri Paekau made a winning Test debut for the Kiwi Ferns, coming off the bench in their 28-10 win over Tonga. She came up against four Eels teammates, with Cassey Tohi-Hiku, Jade Fonua, Amelia Mafi and Shannon Muru representing Tonga.
Tohi-Hiku stood out for the Tonga Women playing in the unfamiliar five-eighth position, assisting a try and making 144 run metres.
The likes of Brown, Sivo, Blake, Penisini and Paekau are expected to feature again in the next round of Test matches, while Wiremu Greig will hope to earn an international debut in the coming weeks as part of the Kiwis squad.
