Eels called up for Test duty

Fourteen Eels players have earned selection for their national sides ahead of the 2023 Test window.

Junior Paulo will add to his illustrious Test career after being chosen for Samoa. Paulo, who led the island nation to their first Rugby League World Cup Final last year, will join the Samoa squad following his boxing bout in Townsville on Saturday.

Daejarn Asi is set to join him in the Samoa camp, with the utility in line for his international debut. Asi made 10 appearances for the Eels this season, playing as a five-eighth, halfback and centre.

Wiremu Greig has earned his first Kiwis call-up after being chosen in New Zealand's squad for the Pacific Championships. The Eels' Rookie of the Year will link up with teammate Dylan Brown in the Test squad.

Will Penisini will tour with Tonga for their tri-series against England. The centre featured at the World Cup for Tonga last year, scoring five tries in three games. He will once again represent Mate Ma'a after winning the Eels' NRL Coaches Award in 2023.

NRLW Co-Captain Kennedy Cherrington has been named for the Jillaroos' upcoming matches against the Kiwis Ferns. She helped Australia lift the World Cup in England last year, scoring a try in the Final at Old Trafford.

She is set to come up against fellow Eel Capri Paekau, who has been called up by New Zealand for the first time.

Cassey Tohi-HikuJade FonuaAmelia Mafi and Shannon Muru have all been named in the Tonga Women's side, while Pihuka Berryman-Duff, Lindsay Tui and Tafao Asaua are included in the Fetu Samoa squad.

The Eels wish to congratulate their representatives at the upcoming series of Test matches.
